Many people think that vacuum cleaners and carpet shampooers are designed to pick, suck out, and clean just about anything. However, depending on the type of vacuum that you have, a certain vacuum cleaner is not really built to be able to do everything. Before, vacuums were perceived as disposable items however now that they are built with tougher and quality materials, some can even last almost a lifetime if you take proper care of it.

A very simple yet significant and effective way to maintain your vacuum cleaner and carpet shampooer is to always check the bag and filter regularly. These should always be kept clean and free of debris that may cause blockage as much as possible. If you vacuum cleaner is used on a daily basis, empty the bag right away even if it’s not yet full. Vacuuming with a full bag puts unusually more stress to the motor. If needed, replace them regularly too and do not delay such task. The more you procrastinate such task, all the more that you risk the operational integrity of your machine.

Aside from the bag and filter, regular inspection of vacuum parts is also a must. Check your machine’s brushes to ensure they are replaced promptly if they are already wearing down. The brush rolls should always be checked too and make sure that strings and hairs are removed regularly. Moisture is also a big no-no for any machine. Avoid vacuuming wet carpets or surfaces. Make sure that your machine’s components are always lubricated properly.
